πŸ“š MYCELIUM GLOSSARY

Bio Term β†’ CircularOS Term

Mycelium is not a metaphor β€” it is the operational pattern. This glossary maps each biological term to the exact CircularOS object that plays its role.

The Body of the Network

Bio TermCircularOS EquivalentWhat It Does
SporeSCP / Sealed IdeaThe smallest unit of doctrine. Lands somewhere, may or may not germinate. Sealed in the Truth Ledger.
HyphaConnection / Cross-link / CitationA single thread between two entities, two MDs, two pages. The graph edge. The thing that makes the network a network.
Mycelium (mass)The whole CircularOS undergroundThe full set of hyphae plus the substrate they grow through. Not visible from the surface β€” readable only via tracker + network views.
Fruiting BodyA published page Β· MD Β· protocolWhat the surface sees. The visible artefact that grew from underground work. Mushrooms above the soil.
Substrateop_ledger + Truth Ledger + url_mapThe medium the network grows through. Every hypha needs a substrate to anchor in. Without seal-able ground, no growth.
SubstructureEntity #35 Β· the EyeThe load-bearing engineered design beneath the soil. NOT mycelium β€” mycelium is what surfaces; substructure is what holds it up. (See MD-286.)

How the Network Spreads

Bio TermCircularOS EquivalentWhat It Does
GerminationBuild sealed in op_ledgerThe moment a spore (idea) takes root. The dedup_key fires. The build counter ticks.
Hyphal TipActive operator sessionThe growing edge of the network. Where new connections are being made right now. Heat-map hot.
AnastomosisCross-MD referenceTwo hyphae fuse into one. When MD-452 references MD-450 references MD-451, the network gains a shortcut.
SporulationDoctrine releaseA mature node releases new spores (new MDs / SCPs). The Sovereign Library is the sporulation surface.
DormancyPage with zero recent touchesStill alive, waiting. Activated by a single visit. The Mycelium Tracker flags dormant vs active.
Β§3 Β· Pathology & Health

What Healthy Mycelium Looks Like

Bio TermCircularOS EquivalentWhat It Does
PathogenBroken link Β· contradicting doctrineSomething that disrupts the network. Caught by the Verification Log and Code Review.
SymbiosisCross-entity revenue splitTwo entities feeding each other. The 50/50 split. The 7% Covenant. MD-452's three rungs.
DecayPage with stale dataNecessary recycling β€” old material returns nutrients to the substrate. The Velocity Tracker's "last touched" column.
BloomPublic surface launchMany fruiting bodies appearing at once. The 02 May cluster (#53 β†’ #71) was a bloom.
Β§4 Β· The One Critical Distinction

Mycelium β‰  Substructure

Per MD-286 (Entity #35 Β· The Eye), mycelium is what surfaces β€” the network that becomes visible at the soil-line. Substructure is load-bearing engineered design β€” the architecture that holds the soil in place.

CircularOS has both. The mycelium grows organically. The substructure is built deliberately. They are not the same thing and the doctrine should never collapse them.
