Camber Sands. Five kilometres of east Sussex dunes between Rye and Dungeness. The biggest sand beach in south-east England. Caravan park culture. London day-tripper crowd. Massive weekend population spike — from a few hundred residents to fifty thousand visitors on an August Saturday. Plastic load 350 kilos per kilometre. Total available: 1.75 tonnes per pass. dPRN value: 788 pounds. Seventy meals funded. One hundred and forty volunteer hours. Two point six tonnes of CO2 equivalent saved. Camber is the weekend beach. The Sovereign Beach model needs to prove it can operate against a weekend tonnage spike — when two hundred kilos arrive on the sand between Friday afternoon and Sunday night and the council bin staff are off shift. Camber is where we trial the Friday-evening drop, Saturday-morning pre-cleanup, Sunday-night verification cycle. If we make this work, we have the template for every weekend-only English beach. Four passes a year — staggered across May to September — and Camber funds 280 verified meals into the Rother and Hastings food network.
